Founder and President

It all started in 1983. One evening, our son, Joe, who was then 15 years old, challenged my husband, John, and me with, "Mom and Dad, Planned Parenthood is coming to our town. What are you going to do about it?"

John and I realized that we needed to be involved in efforts to oppose this situation and so we helped organize what we thought was a short-term peaceful protest. With the help of pro-life heroes like Bob Moran and Joan Andrews, we got together a group from the community who picketed and prayed the whole day PP opened. But it didn't stop there.

About 20 of us decided to return each week in the sun or rain or snow to pray and picket because we read that PP was launching a "special program" for Saturday mornings so that mothers and daughters could come and learn all about sex and contraception. Our son, Joe often joined me there. As I prayed during those times, I began to realize how important it was to reach people with the truth about Planned Parenthood; what were its goals, what were its methods, how very close to home (and to our children) it is. How much danger it presents.

About a year later, in June of 1984, John and I met with some couples we knew who were as concerned as we were and planned the first meeting of the Pro-Life Coalition. Sixty-two people attended that first meeting, and from that group emerged the first leaders of the organization we have today. Over the years we have changed how many meetings we have each year and how often we mail out our newsletter and even our office address, but we have never altered from our strong determination to fight the evils of abortion, infanticide and euthanasia.

May God sustain us in the battle!
